Match Report Panorama completed an historical double by winning in a crazy game against Lenesia on a long night in Randburg.

What was supposed to be a tought but fair contest was completely ruined by once again the shocking unsportmanship behaviour displayed by Lenesia (a team often involved in disasters like this). Even the RCLFA president was disgusted by their antics during and after the game.

But let's go back on the game. Kelly (now by far the most victorious coach of the decade not just at Panorama but probably in the whole West Rand), started with a solid 4-5-1 with few key changes. With Robson and Ryan Smith unavailable, he moved De Leo in the back line with Lewis playing left back. Smith and Jeanes completed the line in front of Inward, while Olgiati, Almeida, "daddy" Dixon (congratulations on the birth of your child!), Bailery and Goncalves formed a strong midfield with Egbers in front of them.

From the start Panorama pushed on the accelerator, and it was a matter of minutes before Bailey received a precise pass by Olgiati and scored the 1-0. Unfortunately soon later Olgiati gifted a corner to Lenesia, that was converted to a goal when Inward got blinded by the low direct lights on the field and couldn't control the ball.

But this was pretty much the only chance of the first half for Lenesia. With Panorama not losing their mind, they found the 2-1 just before the half-time whistle when, after Dixon's shot was blocked by a defender, Egbers displayed a piece of magic and, after controlling in a tight space with his right food, found the top corner with a bending shot.

Complaining about an non-existing penalty, one of Lenesia's players decided to verbally abuse the referee and got sin-binned.  But Lenesia refused to start the second half in protest, even if the new rules of the game introduced this year were correctly applied by the referee.

And so the pantomine started. Lenesia decided to abandon the game and Panorama was sent to the changing rooms to try to make sense of a final won in 45 minutes. Only 30 minutes later Lenesia finally decided to calm down (take less time to calm down a 2 year old screaming child in a shopping mall who wants a Paw Patrol toy even if he already got a Lego set instead), and Panorama, already changed into their normal clothes, was forced to change back to the game uniform again....

And so another game started. Panorama took a while to get back into action, and after Inward saved the result with an incredible one handed save, Lenesia scored with a long range free kick for the 2-2. Soon after they got another of their players sin-binned, but this time they complied with the referee's instructions.

Now, it would have been a travesty if somehow Lenesia beat Panorama after what happened on the field. Instead justice was server when Almeida found with an incredible pass Egbers, who scored the winner with 5 minutes to go.

Lenesia had nothing left to offer, and after the final whistle Panorama could somehow celebrate.

Unfortunately once again Lenesia managed to spoil the party when, during the medal ceremony, they initially refused to collect the medals, and the medals were finally collected only after the team was threatened with expulsion from the league. A sad ending for a tough final.

Panorama's players though kept their cool during and after the game and were finally allowed to lift the cup and celebrate a double!

Some numbers:
  • This is Panorama's 4th cup triumph since 28013. All the finals were tense affair (a 2-1 win against Linhill in 2013, a penalty win against Balfour in 2015, a 1-0 win against Balfour in 2016) but they all ended in Panorama's favour
  • Since 2013 Panorama have now won 5 leagues and 4 cups. No other team in the area is even closer to those numbers
  • For the 3rd time in a row, Lenesia finished the league behind Panorama, and for the 3rd time in a row Randburg finished 3rd. In those 3 seasons Panorama 83% of the games played, taking 14 points more than Lenesia, and 35 more than Randburg.  They also scored 22 goals more than Lenesia and 38 more than Randburg. This is called domination!
  • Egbers finished top of the goal scorers list with 11 goals, followed by Olgiati with 10 and Dixon/De Leo with 5. He also finished top on the assists list with 9, followed by Smith with 6, and Olgiati/Jeanes with 4
  • Jeanes, Dixon and Almeida played more games than anyone else (14),  while Dixon topped the list for minutes played, followed by Almeida (! the miracles of good strapping) and Jeanes.
