In the first game of the Robson's era, Panorama lost 3-1 at home against Robertsham in the semifinal of the cup. Robson decided to play with a solid 4-5-1 with De Leo up front, supported by the unusual trio of Almeida, Bailey and Olgiati, rediscovering his very old role. Benites and Lindsay took care of the wide running, while the back four in front of Inward was formed by Dixon, Robson with Jeans and Smith in the wide roles. From the start Panorama had a little edge in the first half against one of the best teams in the league. Witrh Robertsham not really pushing and relying on long balls, Panorama coped well and only the lack of precision in the passing on the counter attacks denied them chances. When Egbers entered the game, Panorama found the goal thanks to a neat interplay on the wings, with Egbers lobbing a pass to Olgiati who controlled it and scored with a precise shot. Panorama had plenty of chances to finish the first half 2 or 3 up, but Lindsay and Benites were unlucky with their final shot, and a fantastic effort by Ryan Smith from 30 meters hit the bar before bouncing off, with the referee missing the ball passing the goal line. In the second half Panorama unfortunately collapses in the space of 10 minutes. 2 great free kicks and 1 goal after losing the bal on the counter attack were enough for Robertsham to win the game, just like few months back (Panorama was 1-0 up, missed some good chances, and lost 3-1). So Robson's first match was a bit unlucky, with a little more precision in front of the goal his first game would have ended with an easy win... Next week the league restarts, so Robson will have plenty of time to find the best way to play his team. |
