Match Report |
Panorama started their post-Thornton era with a resounding win against old rivals. After the introduction of Bailey and Dale in the past weeks, Kelly brought in Ryan Smith in order to add some quality to a team losing players every week by injuries. Panorama , playing the first game of the new A1 field, started with a solid 4-4-2 with Wills deployed up front together with De Leo. Kelly's plan was to add physicality in the middle of the park while taking advantage of the constant running of the wings. The plan worked out beautifully and Panorama dominated from the early start. Atkinson, getting more comfortable with the right back role, delivered crosses after crosses probably in order to pay tribute to the departing Thornton, who would have loved to get those kind of crosses while he was still playing. Clive Smith had a golden chance after and early coast to coast but his final shot hit the post. Marks Park couldn't cope with the constant waves of attacks from right and left, and from a corner, after some misjudged clearance, Dixon, once again in a man-of-the-match performance, blasted the 1-0 from inside the area. The 2-0 was a copy of the second goal, but this time Almeida's corner found directly Dixon's unmarked head for the 2-0. With Miles replacing a tired Wills, soon Panorama found the 3-0 when he played to ball to De Leo who lobbed the keeper from outisde the box. The 4-0 that closed the first half came from one of the many Atkinson's crosses that found the running Bailey's for his first goal with the team. Bailey had a chance to make it 5 few minutes later after Olgiati found him in the area but his twisted shot ended up wide. In the second half Marks Park decided to sit back, exploiting any possible trick in order to avoid humiliation, but Panorama kept pressing and playing great football. From a ball that Marks Park kept inside the field for no reason at all, Bailey found his second goal with a precise shot from an impossible angle. Miles had few chances to score the sixth, but was unlucky with the final ball. Panorama also deserved a penalty when Olgiati was hacked in the area, but once again the referee ignored the blatant foul. Towards the end of the game it was Olgiati's turn to score his 8th this season by stopping Dixon precise shot and, after the keeper saved the first attempt, reacting first to score the 6th of the game. Overall it was another good performance for a team that has been excelling in the last year or so. With some returning players in the near future the competition for spots will be harder! |
