Match Report |
Panorama ended their season with a quart finals defeat in the league cup against Randburg. Still trying to find the flowing game that made Panorama champions in the first half of the season (before the long christmas break), Panorama started with a solid 4-4-2 against a team beaten 6-1 only few weeks back. But after last week's defeat against Lanseria, Panorama seemed to have lost some mojo, and let Randburg play their long-ball game without going close to score. After Randburg found the first goal, Panorama reacted with a long range effort by Dixon and then a great shot just outside the area from Wills, that found the only available bottom corner among a sea of legs. Panorama controlled the game in the second half, but didn't get close to deliver the killing blow, and, after Olgiati missed a good chance from Bezuidenhout clever pass, they got punished when Randburg found the 2-2 with few minutes left in the game, with Vorster making some miracle saves to avoid defeat. The extra times were similar to the rest of the game, with Panorama not being able to get better chances, until Randburg scored what they thought it would be the winner with 2 minutes to go before penalties. But then, in the dying seconds, Bezuidenhout was kicked in the area and Lewis converted for the final 3-3. The lottery of the penalties though rewarded Randburg. After Harris scored his penalty, Olgiati missed the target. Jeanes and Dixon scored their one, but Thornton missed the final penalty when the keeper saved it. Robson scored his penalty kick before Miles missed his one, leaving Randburg with an unexpected 5-4 win. |
