Match Report |
Following on from Mondays spectacular victory to win the league, Panorama faced the third placed Porras from Maritimo on Wednesday night. Unlike Monday, Coach of the year Kelly didn’t have the pick of players he would have liked due to a number of regulars being unavailable. This forced the coach to play some players out of their usual position, and Kelly himself played his first full 90 minutes in quite a while. He started with a conservative 4-5-1 formation in the first half, with Wills working tirelessly as the only striker. With no referee turning up, and one of the opposition players taking the whistle, it was a tough first half. With some luck and some questionable refereeing decisions, somehow Maritimo , against the run of play found themselves 1-0 up at half time. There were some heated discussions about changing formation at half time, and eventually it was decided that Bezuidenhout would move further forward, and after 5 mins – Miles replaced the exhausted Wills. This proved to be the turning point. From a swift move down the right, Miles found a yard of space to cross to Bezuidenhout in the area. His powerful header left the opposition keeper with no chance and Panorama were level. A few minutes later – Maritimo’s keeper threw the ball straight to Almeida, who took full advantage to give the ball back to the keeper, by putting it in the back of his net. Combining down the right, De Leo (filling in for the injured Olgiati) and Meroni (when the opposition winger wasn’t trying to steal his shorts) caused all sorts of problems. Winning a free kick wide, Harris delivered a driving cross into the front post which Robson converted with a diving header. Some confusion at the back allowed Maritmo to pull a goal back, but Pana weren’t finished yet. Almeida, who needed to prove that his customary Man-of-the-match award from this team was in fact warranted, caught a cross from Bezuidenhout on the volley for a spectacular finish and his second of the game. Not to be outdone, Bezuidenhout, finished off a great second half with a screamer into the top corner after receiving the ball from Harris in a good position. Another 3 points, proving that Panorama deserve their spot at the top of the table and their name on the trophy. |
