Match Report |
Panorama faced 2nd placed Lenesia in a tricky away game, started under a heavy rain. Lenesia, trailing Panorama by 2 points, needed a win here, while Panorama, after a series of impressive results, needed to confirm the progress made in the last months. Coach Kelly reunited Bezuidenhout and Thornton up front. With Lewis and DeLeo missing, Kelly arranged the team with a solid 4-4-2. The first 5 minutes were all Panorama, but after a series of great first touches, they couldn't score against a rattled Lenesia defence. Lenesia relaxed after the early pressure and, with a high offside line, played a 4-3-3 (even 4-2-4) trying to pin Panorama's wingbacks in their own half. The game was a scrappy, tense affair for most of the first half, with none of the team getting close to score. In the second half Lenesia kept pressing, but Panorama held well, winning all the long balls with the Robson/Smith pairing, and moving Dixon in the midfield to add some physicality after Atkinson had to leave the field injured at the end of the first half. Panorama though kept the superior fitness ad advantage and started to play quicker football towards the end, distributing the ball on the wings and only messing a bit up front. Eventually, with 10 minutes to go, from a ball worked on the left Bezuidenhout found Olgiati with a great pass, beating the offside trap. Olgiati then had a chance to score from a tight angle but instead releases the ball to Miles, who was waiting in the middle. Miles, scoring last week after a 500+ days abstinence, converted the pass to the winning goal. Lenesia had nothing else to offer in the dying minutes and Panorama completed a remarkable start of the league with 6 wins in 6 games, sending them 5 points clear at the top! |
