After winning the two past games with consecutive 7-0, Panorama kept up the entertaining start of the season with an enjoyable 4-4 draw against the other Randburg team. Randburg decided to experiment with a high-possession game, playing the ball from the back around the Panorama players in the first 10 minutes. But just like last week, the home team didn't need many touches to score the first goal. Harris attacked the back four and they mistakenly passed the ball to Thornton who scores with his first touch in the game (and overall 3rd or 4th team touch...) Randburg continued to keep possession, but once again was punished when, from a long ball headed by an unstoppable Thornton (who ended up dominating the aerial game), Olgiati somehow managed to get the ball to Harris who, from a difficult position, punished the keeper by scoring with a precise shot between some players' legs. Panorama tried to find the 3rd goal, but they weren't able to exploit Thornton's good form with a series of poor crosses. Olgiati had two big chances but wasn't able to convert them. Eventually Randburg scored with a precise shot from outside the area that surprised the whole defence. At the start of the second half Randburg managed to find the 2-2, but Olgiati soon replied with a close ranged header from Thornton's cross. Once again Randburg scored, this time thanks to an unluck own goal by Robson. From yet another cross, this time from the right, Randburg scored the 4-3. Thornton hit the post few minutes later but it was man-of-the-match Atkinson who scored the final 4-4, eradicating a ball from the defender's legs and beating the keeper with a cool shot to give Panorama a point. |
