Match Report

Panorama’s longest unbeaten mini-streak of the challenging 2024 season came to an end in a 7-4 defeat to Flying Eagles, in a match that once again saw Panorama take the lead but struggle to maintain it.

Starting in their usual 4-5-1 formation, with Peters leading the line, supported by Nzama, Liu, and Bailey, Panorama made a lightning-fast start. Just 10 seconds into the match, Lindsay's perfectly weighted pass set up Nzama, who calmly finished a one-on-one with the keeper, marking the fastest goal in Panorama’s history.

However, Flying Eagles gradually increased the pressure and found an equalizer from a free kick just outside the box. Panorama’s defense was soon hit hard, with both Garrard and Ho Lam picking up injuries, leaving the backline vulnerable. Olgiati struggled to contain the pace of the Flying Eagles’ wingers, leaving Benites exposed, and two more goals before halftime left Panorama trailing 3-1.

Despite a spirited attempt to mount a comeback, Flying Eagles extended their lead with another goal. Lindsay managed to pull one back, but with Panorama’s exhausted and injury-hit defense, three more goals from Flying Eagles followed. Late goals from Miles and a second from the excellent Nzama gave Panorama some hope, but it wasn’t enough to turn the tide.

It was far from the result Panorama needed, especially with the mounting injury crisis adding to the difficulties of a seemingly cursed 2024 season.

Some stats from the game:

  • This was the first time the two teams played each other. Unfortunately it was also valid as a double header.
  • Bailey 128th game for Panorama moved him in 9th overall, passing Lewis.
  • Lindsay is now only 4 goals away from Thornton's second overall place at 63, while his 43th assist moved him to 3rd overall
