Match Report Déjà vu. It’s the recurring theme for Panorama this season.

How many times has this scenario played out? Six? Seven? It seems like almost every game follows the same script. The season has been marred by players abandoning the team, a lack of commitment, and unfortunate injuries that have decimated the midfield. This has forced the team to rely on new players to fill the gaps. Panorama consistently performs well in the first half, only to find themselves unable to sustain their energy due to a shortage of substitutes.

Panorama began the match with a solid 4-4-2 formation. Imbriolo commanded the defense, with Ho Lam shifting to the middle. O’Sullivan faced the quickest opponent on the field, winning most of the duels. Neale made his return to the left-back position.
The midfield underwent another overhaul, with Olgiati pairing with Liu, and new players Ntiko and Nkoana taking the wings. Up front, Inward supported Lindsay.

After Lindsay missed a good chance, Panorama managed to score the opener with a great combination between the new players. Sundowners were rattled but found the equalizer 10 minutes later.

In the second half, Panorama allowed Sundowners to dominate possession and control the game. When Imbriolo struggled to stay on the field, Panorama was forced to adjust the formation, moving Lindsay to the wing and placing Miles (and then Wills) up front. Unfortunately, Sundowners scored two more goals in the second half, qualifying for the next stage of the cup and leaving Panorama at the bottom of the group.

Some stats from the game:

  • This was the 6th match between the two sides, with Panorama losing the last 5 (GD -10)
  • Since January, Panorama have deployed 38 players on the field, mostyl out of desperation. The average players that showed up per game in the first 16 games of the season is a depressing 11.44. (compared to 14.11 last year, a difference of 3 players on the bench each game). Only in 2016 Panorama struggled this much, with 11.97 (but still managed to win 55% of the game with only 24 players deployed the whole season, showing a core of players committed week-in week-out)
  • In the 2024 charts, Olgiati stays on top with 6 goals contributions (4+2), while Ho Lam opened up a 2 game advantagage in the most committed players of the season award
