Match Report It was always a matter of "when" rather than "if" for Panorama to win the league. After 12 consecutive wins only interrupted by a draw last week, Panorama needed 3 points from 4 game to finally be officially declared champions.

And it happened last night, at home (finally) against Lenasia, in the first game with the new kits (a throwback to the classic red/blue Panorama colours).  After a tough series of games, Panorama finally relaxed and played like that did until few weeks ago: from the back, with nice movements by the wings, and with a dominant midfield.

After the first 20 minutes the goal was in the air. Imbriolo was close from an Olgiati's cross, and only some good saves by the Lenasia keeper kept Panorama at bay. Eventually, from an inch-perfect cross from the left by Bailey, it was Olgiati who somehow managed to strech his legs and touch the ball with enough precision to find the 1-0. The 2-0 was a question of minutes: De Klerk released Olgiati on the right, and Olgiati, rolling back the years for a vintage display, scored from a tight angle.

Lenasia took advantage of the only time Panorama relaxed to score a quick 2-1 that finished the first half.

In the second half Panorama introduced Smith, Ho Lam and Mdunge, and they could smell blood. Smith had 3 chances in the space of 10 minutes to close the game, but was unlucky in each one of them. Eventually it was Almeida who scored the 3-1, after a pass by Mdunge somehow ended up on his feet and from just outside the area he found a precise shot.

No game would end without Lindsay putting his mark, and once again Mdunge destroyed his marked on the left to pass the ball for Lindsay for the 4-1.

With 4-1 and few minutes to play before being crowded champions, it was probably normal for Panorama to relax, and let Lenasia score their seconed just before the final whistle.

After that, it was time for some celebrations, for the first trophy since 2019. After the low last year, Panorama bounced back in style by dominating Division 2.

Some stats from the night:
  • This was the 16th game betweeen the two sides. Panorama won 9 of them  (the last 2 consecutively)
  • The last time Panorama won the league happend in 2019 Winter League, in Division 1. This is Panorama's 7 league win (1 in Division 1, 6 in Division 2). A first win for the Olgiati-Almeida duo (both on the scoresheet for a special night)
  • Almeida, Olgiati and Miles (12) have now passed Robson, Jeanes and Kelly (11)  for the most titles for Panorama
  • With his 10th assist, Lindsay now scored 30 points (with 20 goals) in a season. This matches Olgiati's long standing record from 2013/14, and Lindsay has still at least 6 games to improve it
  • Inward played his 70th game fo Panorama, while Liu played his 20th
  • Bailey's 8 goals + 6 assists already improved on his 2018 record of 13 (6+7). Now he sits 3rd overall in the top assist for Panorama (with Thornton only 3 assists above, at 42)
  • Lindsay's 46th goal moves him to 3rd, passing the late Bezuindehout at 45. Also his 78 points move him only 1 behind Dixon at 79 in 3rd place
  • Almeida's 29th goal moves him only one below De Leo, in 10th
  • The current unbeaten streak now sits at 14 games (13 wins, 1 draw)
