Match Report After 2 and half year in charge (and a long break without games due to Covid), this was going to be Mike Robson's last game as player/manager for Panorama, ending an incredible 22 years career at Panorama.

From the start of a game against a team full with players that have played against him over the years, it was clear that it was going to be an emotional sendoff. This is probably why a distracted Robson, after accepting a special trophy from Randfontein, decided to randomly trip an opponent in the area to give them the 1-0 with a strong penalty. Panorama could have probably scored earlier but Garrard's shot from 2 feet somehow didn't manage to cross the line in the best chance of the opening actions.

But on this day of celebration there wasn't going to be any place for defeat. Olgiati, taking over as manager from next week, introduced himself at the end of the first half and in the space of 10 minutes scored 2 goals. The first was a terrible mistake by the keeper, losing the ball on the ground after the lightest of pressure from Olgiati, while the second was produced by a fantastic solo effort by Almeida, receiving the ball from Lindsay just inside the Randfontein's half, and producing the sort of progression that left Randonfontein's team flat. Olgiati just had to tap-in the easiest of the goals.

Eventually the 2-1 stayed until the end of the game. Lindsay hit the post 3 times but overall Panorama managed to survive the few scares produced by the constant pressure by Randfontein towards the end of the second half.

After the game there was only time to say goodbye to Robson, moving to England after a succesfull career at Panorama.

Some stats from the game:

  • This was the 21st game between the two teams, with Panorama winning 18 of those (and the last consecutive 11)
  • Robson concluded his Panorama career with 211 games, 9 goals and 7 assists (and a lot of trophies!)
  • Since taking over from Kelly in the winter of 2019 (Kelly's last game was a 0-0 vs Randburg), Robson coached 58 games, winning 44 (75%!), drawing 6 and losing only 8. The team scored 187 goals (3.22 avg) and conceded 63 (1.08 avg). Unfortunately he was unlucky with timing. After winning the double the year Kelly left, he was unable to add to the trophy cabinet due to COVID lockdowns, while being at the top of the log twice.
  • With his assist, Almeida jumped to 3rd overall with 35, reaching Dixon.
  • Olgiati (199) and Miles (198) are now the closest two to 200 (already reached by Robson - 211 - and Jeanes  - 207)
