UNDERTAKERS REACH CUP FINAL A solid performance by the team gave them a narrow 1 0 victory over a good Randfontein City side last night a The Cemetery. Two half chances, some early corners and pressure down both flanks led to a great opening created by Olaf Digler for Jaybone who flashed a left footed effort wide. A guilt edged chance gone a mis for The Undertakers. Moment later and Olaf almost made it one nil, but it was not to be. A goalless first half came to an end with the home team knowing they had to take their chances. The second half began as fast as the first with both sides feeling each other out. Many great combination plays down the left to Ella Ella and Morris kept creating good crossing opportunities, but the final balls into the box were not up to scratch. Finally with 20 minutes to go the deadlock was broken by the invincible Gazza. A good deep free kick from the left by Ella saw a cut back header from Mark V to Gazza, resulting in a diving header from 6 yards out. The back line who once again played well almost let City in with a moment of madness, but the lines were cleared and all was forgiven. Jeanes, Rocket Ronnie, Peanuts, Macca and Morris all played superbly on the night ensuring a clean sheet. Non stop pressure until the end by The Undertakers saw the final whistle arrive and the celebrations began. Well played to everyone. |
