Match Report |
Panorama continued the good run of form in the second half of the season with 2-0 victory against Randburg. Kelly, without Harris (injured for the rest of the season), Dixon and Veldon, opted for a solid 4-4-2 (which occasionally moved to a 4-3-3 when Almeida decided to press high), which didn't leave much spaced for Randburg, resorting to long ball and shots from the distance without getting close to Nick Thornton for most of the first half. After a volley by Olgiati edged the top of the goals (by some meters), it was Thornton who created the first goal, by passing the ball into space to McConkey who smashed it for the 1-0. Kennedy and Olgiati kept attacking on the wings, with Jeans, deployed in a central holding midfield position, took care of adding protection to a back 4 that was as solid as ever. From a long throw by Almeida that surprised Randburg defence, Olgiati managed to let the ball bounce and smash in the bottom corner for the 2-0. The second half was more a lesson in defensive and counter attacking display. With Olgiati and Kennedy now supporting Morris and Kelly, it was Almeida who took an advanced role every time Randburg lost a ball. Randburg kept pressing without finding the nets, while Panorama could have scored a couple more, but imprecision and lack of pace was a problem after an hour played at high tempo. The final score was 2-0, with Panorama taking 2 wins from 2 games. |
