Match Report |
The Undertakers won their first game of the Summer League by beating Marks Park 3-1 at home. It was their first game after winning the league cup last month, and it was a perfect way to start the summer campaign! With plenty of players to choose from, coach Kelly decided for an attacking formation, with Thornton-Olgiati up front, and Livesey/Hurst on the wings. But it was Marks Park who scored first, from a dodgy offside position. Panorama reacted strongly and Olgiati, after miserable wasting a chance 5 minutes earlier, converted from an assit by Veldon, beating the keeper just inside the area. It was the unstoppable Veldon who scored the 2-1 just at the end of the first half with a marvellous free kick in the top left corner. In the second half Marks Park relied on long balls, and the Undertakers' superior stamina let them control the game. After wasting some more opportunities, it was Stoychev, playing his first game with the vets, who scored the final 3-1, after a run on the left wing, by smashing the ball in the top corner from distance. The back four controlled the game and everyone had a chance to play during the multiple rotations that coach Kellt did in the second half. Man of the match, as elected by the opposition, was Gary Thornton, who was unlucky to not convert is few chances. |
